NOUREEN ENGLEFIELD

Artist & Creative Associate

Some of the most powerful paintings begin with something small but unforgettable, a place, a season, a memory or a fleeting moment that refuses to fade. My work is inspired byeveryday life, nature, people, places and personal experiences and I am drawn to the emotions and sense of connection these can evoke.

I am a fine artist and educator with a background in painting and printmaking. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and Painting, awarded with Distinction. I have exhibited my work in a range of galleries and exhibition spaces, including Maidstone Museum, the Royal Engineers Museum, Gallery Café Rochester, Rose Gallery Bluewater, Nucleus Art Gallery, Avari (Hilton) Hotel, Al-Hamra Arts Council and the French Cultural Centre.

I work across a range of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and printmaking techniques such as etching and aquatint, monotype and collagraph. I enjoy the freedom of moving between different materials and processes, allowing each subject to suggest its own approach. Alongside my artistic practice, I have worked in Art & Design education for many years and have been an International Examiner, Marker and Moderator for GCSE and A Level Art & Design with a leading London based examination board since 2004.

I have undertaken many commissioned portraits over the years, creating personal and meaningful artworks for individuals and families, including the official portrait of the Bishop of Rochester. I enjoy working closely with clients to understand the person, place or memory they would like captured, while bringing my own artistic approach to the finished work.

I welcome enquiries for portrait commissions as well as a wide range of other subjects and creative ideas. If you have something personal in mind, I would be delighted to discuss your vision and explore how it could be developed into a distinctive and meaningful artwork.
