Oceans - The Halpern Gallery
Medway School of Arts students have been commissioned by The Historic Dockyard Chatham to produce creative responses inspired by their 2026 theme of Oceans for this community exhibition.
The work on display responds to the brief set by The Historic Dockyard which asked students to make work that documents or celebrates, or explores myths & narratives, relating to The River Medway and Dockyard.

The Art of Belonging - The Halpern Gallery
The Art of Belonging, a community arts project delivered by Demelza and funded by Hospice UK for Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026, the national campaign encouraging open conversations about death, dying and bereavement.
Through a series of creative workshops, families supported by Demelza and members of Medway’s diverse communities have explored memory, connection and belonging. The exhibition brings together their artwork, reflecting shared stories, emotions and experiences.

Creative Medway Meet- Up
This month our guest speaker is Tetiana Voronova. Tetiana is an independent curator and founder of the Ukrainian Art Community “Identity,” shares her experience organising Ukrainian Art Month in Medway this March. The programme featured five solo exhibitions and one group show across Halpern Pop and Halpern Gallery in Chatham, alongside participation in the Rochester Art Fair.
Now working with over 80 Ukrainian artists based in the UK and internationally, “Identity” continues to grow as a platform for connection and visibility. Tetiana will reflect on building and sustaining an art community, and the opportunities it creates for artists.

Living Resonance - The Halpern Pop

Living Resonance is a process in which painting evokes an emotional response shaped through the interaction between the artwork and the viewer’s inner state.
The exhibition is part of the Month of Ukrainian Art in Medway, a series of exhibitions of Ukrainian artists organised by the IDENTITY Community, running from March 5th to April 7th at Halpern Pop Rochester and The Halpern Gallery Chatham.

The works do not depict literal places, but rather emotional and psychological spaces—quiet horizons shaped by memory, feeling, and intuition.

Young at Art - Paper Clay Trinket Dishes with Sue Maddocks
Join our resident artist Sue Maddocks will guide you through creating a gorgeous trinket bowl. These bowls can be used for an array of different purposes. All materials are provided (along with an apron). Your creations will need to be fired in our kiln, so they will able to be collected after the firing process.
