SPACE TO CREATE
For many artists having a dedicated space in which to develop their practice free from distraction is essential. The studios at Nucleus Arts Centre, The Halpern Conservancy Board Building, Creative Riverside Hub and The Langton Studios, Rainham offer such sanctuary at the most affordable rates in the area.
All of our studios are self-contained and benefit from wireless broadband, our range includes starter studios to serviced creative business space. Studios vary in size and layout, fair usage of utilities included. Resident artists also benefit from discounts at our site cafe and have access to creative opportunities unavailable elsewhere.
Studios at the Nucleus Arts Centre & The Halpern Conservancy Board Building will only be rented for the purpose of creation of artworks (i.e. not as office space) and must be made use of for a minimum of 30 hours per month. Upon application you will be asked to present a few examples of your recent artwork.

WHAT IS IT LIKE HAVING A STUDIO WITH NUCLEUS ARTS?
Working from my studio has been a game-changer for me since I started in 2020. The space has all that meets the needs of artists, with ample natural light and room to get messy and experiment, I've been able to work on bigger and more complex pieces than ever before
Surrounded by fellow artists working with a wild variety of mediums and styles, I've found endless inspiration and support. I have rented studio space here in Nucleus Chatham for about fifteen consecutive years, over which period I have occupied four different studios. That you are able to change your studio from the varied selection available is one of the advantages, the rents are affordable compared with other studios in the area and include lighting and heating.
The complex also incorporates an attractive contemporary gallery which is available for hire as well as easy access to the cafe. Also you have the opportunity to meet other artists and all of this accounts for the reason I have stayed so long. - Jon Gubbay
Nucleus is special because it isn’t just a space you rent. With the gallery, café and community workshops you really feel part of a buzzing artistic community in Medway. I’ve made good friends here and met many artists. There is always something new to see in the gallery and always a new project to get involved in. Most importantly though, Nucleus cares about the resident artists. They are happy for you when things are going well and they will reach out when times are hard. As one of the main studio providers in North Kent, vacant spaces get snapped up pretty quickly. If you would like to be put on our waiting list please contact us stating your name, artistic practice and any preferences for the space you are looking for (e.g. good natural light, high ceiling etc.).
