KERRIE OWENS ARTS

KERRIE OWENS

Lapidary Stone Carver and Theatre Prop Maker

Working with semi precious stone, fossil, natural resins, wood and shell to carve them into jewellery pieces to fit the androgynous bohemian style. Her favourite material being New Zealand serpentine which belongs to the greenstone/Pounamu family.

Having travelled New Zealand for 10 months in 2017, Kerrie fell in love with the Māori Culture and the world of Jade carving, taking day classes while in Hokitika and Franz Josef. Since then she has started transferring the mainly self taught skill into experimenting with different hard and natural materials in traditional Māori/polynesian, modern, spiritual and Celtic Design.

She does take commissions for pieces, deals with preloved/second hand, takes on vintage pieces, refurbishment and cord replacements, for any one wanting to pass on their pieces or give them a fresh new cord.

On the side as more of a hobby Kerrie also creates props for local theatres, the local scare industry’s events and local youth theatres. And she has also won awards for her set designs with Medway Little Theatre. You can also check out her armature photography portfolio over on Viewbug.

You can catch Kerrie over in C block of our Chatham centre who has been with us since May 2021, or helping out with our Mini Nucleus group.
