CHARLOTTE LLOYD
Artist
Through floral and silhouette imagery, Charlotte explores the peculiarities of plants within her artistic practice. Her work demonstrates an admiration for the intricacies of floral forms, as well as a curiosity of what happens when these forms are reduced to mere shape. The contrast that is created between detail and obscurity generates a striking image intended to entice the viewer to visually engage with the work.
Charlotte is intrigued by the idea of visual escapism, and intentionally uses a dark background to house the floral forms within her paintings. This darkness arguably creates a sense of containment to the works, allowing the viewer to get fully immersed in the vibrant colour and detail presented to them.
Charlotte completed her BA Fine Art (Hons) at the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury in 2023. Since graduating, she has exhibited her work both locally in Kent and in other areas of England. Most notably, in February 2025, Charlotte’s work was selected for the “Female Artists of Tomorrow” exhibition at The Hari Hotel in London, which seeks to “showcase an exceptional new collection of work by emerging female art graduates”. Following her time in higher education, Charlotte continues to cultivate her art practice and enjoys getting involved in her local art community.
