Earlier in 2016 organisations across the UK who work within addiction recovery organised the Recovery Street film competition and festival. The group came together to raise awareness of addiction and the impact it has on individuals, families and communities by taking a fresh approach.
They aim to reduce the stigma associated with having an addiction. By giving people the opportunity to experience through film a diverse range of real life stories from people affected by addiction it may help reduce the stigma of addiction.
This is a rare opportunity to see the films made for the 2016 competition and festival including one film made with the local organisation Turning Point.
The screening of films will last for approximately 30 minutes, the cafe will be open for people to purchase drinks and refreshments before and after the screening. Cafe Nucleus has wifi should people need to continue working after the event.
