Michael Daks is an English photographer, painter and video director currently based in Rochester after 20 years working in New York and Paris. He was a professor of photography at Parsons Paris and Paris College of Art, and also a visiting professor at Istituto Marangoni Paris, and was a senior lecturer at Southampton Solent University. He has been a guest speaker at numerous academic arts conferences and on the jury of The Istanbul Fashion Film Festival 2016 and FashionClash 2018 in Maastricht. His portraits of Dennis Potter and Kenneth Branagh are in the National Portrait Gallery permanent collection. As well as working for most of the top International magazines including VOGUE, BAZAAR, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan, his work has been published in numerous books on fashion photography and shown at the ICA and V&A London. The cover image of his book of nudes JUST GOOD FRIENDS was selected by The Sunday Times Magazine for their ‘Best of World Photography section and his short film The Butterfly collector made for Untitled Magazine in NYC has been viewed over 1.3 million times on Youtube.
